The Power of Thoughts

Let’s talk about thoughts for a minute.

Our thoughts rule the way we see ourselves, the world, how we feel and how we behave. Thoughts rule our whole lives.

If you’ve been following my work, you know that I often say we are not our thoughts, and we aren’t. We do have a body that has a built-in mind. That mind has thoughts, not you. You are the observer of those thoughts. The reason why it’s so easy to identify with the voice in your head is simply because it’s inside your head, and it speaks in the first person – “I feel like this”, “I want that”.

That talking voice talks about what is familiar to you, based on your past experiences, if criticizes everything and everyone, including you, and does all it can to keep you away from any change. It does all this just to keep you safe and protected from the unknown. You see, when the mind developed that talking voice, the ego, humans were still living in the wilderness and needed to be kept safe from wild animals and any possible dangers. Those dangers were in the unknown, the un-walked path, in the different routine.

Today, so long after, we are pretty safe in our concrete jungles, but the voice has not evolved. It keeps having the same goal to protect you and keep you safe. But today that translates in a constant chatter, a constant criticism and negativity which are proven to keep you in the safe place… no matter how unhappy or unhealthy you are.

So many of us keep going through life believing that this voice is the absolute truth, but it is not. In all fairness the mind is almost always wrong! Check it out for yourself, you’ll be surprised with what you’ll find once you start monitoring your mind’s activity.

The mind is supposed to be a tool that we can use to serve us in life, to serve us. Somehow the servant became the master, and you obey almost every demand of this voice, thinking it is your own wants and needs. Well, let me break it to you, you know I do not sugar coat anything… that voice is not you and the more you believe in it, the worse you’ll feel and the worse your life will become.

Don’t take my word for it. Investigate that voice. If you were your thoughts, they had to be constant or else you’d disappear, right? Well, doesn’t that voice stop when you go to sleep? Don’t the thoughts change throughout the day? How can you be it, then?

Can you see how this information can change your life? If you are not the thoughts in your head and you don’t have to believe in them, then… you can change everything it says, you can change your life.
